Silver has excellent electrical and heat conductivity therefore making it highly suitable as an electrical conductor in a wide range of devices ranging from domestic appliances to large scale power transmission. Conductors are made of a more economical metal (copper/aluminium etc) and then silver plated in order to perform the same function for a fraction of the price.
